alright /ck/ I have a weird buy from the local expired food store

I bought
4.4kg of chili sauce (5 cad)
3.4kg of jalapeno cheddar sauce (4 cad)
9 cad is about 76 cents american
so no matter what I make or how much of it I fuck up I can't really go wrong, I could even go buy more, theres tonnes left

really hoping /ck/'s massive knowledge on shitty fast food can help out on this one because
they're the sort meant to go into like, taco bell squirt dispensers i think

but what would you make if you had this

tl;dr unlimited supply of cheap tacobell sauce what do

and for the cheese

i dunno if you guys want the nutritional info on it i don't care about it having 96% a daily dose of salt in 1 cup

>> No.12854334

ground beef or skirt steak if you're feeling cute
brown whichever in the chili sauce

angel hair cabbage

chop onions, tomato, and cilantro and a little lime juice to make pico but honestly if you're gonna add the cheese sauce i recommend just using chopped onions
oh, you could even sautee them a bit in the chili sauce with the meat

tortillas of any variety
add meat, add onions/pico, add cheese (small amount), add cabbage

wa la

ah yeah taco rings are pretty good
mix the cheese with the beef directly and could do a lot of interesting stuff like cheddar beef ravioli as well
I should sample these both but I wanna figure out if they're resealable first, they both open in different ways too.

cheese has their own units attached, i only got one spout for the chili sauce

>>12854551
i mean when you look at it from an ingredient standpoint, assuming if its 60-70% water, the other 30-40% couldnt be bought for that little for the chili sauce
the cheese sauce though, these sorts of things are often made at least partially out of rework, improperly sealed packages that have spoiled, had the majority of the mold cut off and tossed into the batch
pinholes in the seals and what not

It's all what you make of it especially if you can't afford to buy the separate ingredients. I wouldn't bother since I both have the means to buy the separate ingredients and have access to some pretty inexpensive food stuffs. Except for flour, sugar, lemon juice, lime juice, and small amounts of other canned and packaged stuff, I really don't have the room to buy and store bulk items.

I jokingly call them expired food stores but a lot of thrift food products aren't even old
if a trucks reefer malfunctions and expensive chocolates start to melt a little bit on the surface, they can't be sold to regular grocery stores, they don't want the hassle of bitching customers.
a lot of its also just from food production factories where a batch isnt quite up to snuff, but isn't bad enough to need to toss away.

they always have tonnes of those dare whippet things in stock, their QA team is no joke, if the chocolate is mixed slightly wrong it all goes to thrift
>ooh no we accidentally used the DARK chocolate with the MILK chocolate boxes we better not reopen all these boxes and repackage it, thats a waste of company resources.
other companies that don't make snack foods will often donate their thrift to charity and foodbanks since that's easier and tax deductible

they also do store some regular staples to keep people from needing to make multiple trips, like they keep a limited amount of milk in stock whichis to my surprise, in date.
if they did this with butter I wouldn't have had to make multiple trips though, shame.

I did smooth out the 'chili sauce' beanpaste
maybe this batch just didnt have anywhere near enough liquid and thats why it's thrift? the cheese seemed fine
shame the cheese wasnt the one that used the tu-
wait maybe they're meant to be in the opposite bags that would make total fucking sense

but guys I am serious

I really would recommend visiting a thrift food store even if you don't theoretically trust it
they tend to ship products in from farther away and a lot of liquidation of uh, I guess start-ups, the 'indy company' of industrial food manufacturing
anyone reading this who makes decisions anywhere, never use agave syrup as a sweetener.
Just about every soft drink i've seen go through there with a funky hipster label uses it, and there is a reason those companies go out of business so often, and it's not because your fortnite character on the bottle isnt popular anymore.
theres a lot of interesting things you can see go in and out of there and honestly the worst case is you saved money on some 'safe' things like chocolate chips which I bought there for a quarter their regular price
if you're a pretty savvy buyer you are bound to notice some screaming deals and buying from places like these severely cuts down on food waste
large grocery stores go through absolutely massive amounts of food, some of it is resold to small thrift food stores, while the rest of it is dumpstered
most grocery stores don't even donate to their own foodbanks

and these thrift places?
hell
they even pay for your bags

No you can use a "buy" as a noun like a "purchase" in informal expression, and it's not specific to any race or wealth level. A "bargain buy" or "good buy" are common phrases you may hear on HGTV and DIY type shows.

This is a thing. I've been to one before that sells expired, overstocked, and damaged/dented stuff. But if you don't have one nearby you can just go to a food pantry. A lot of churches provide free meals to homeless/impoverished folks on scheduled nights of the week. You don't need to prove you're in need or anything. Also, it completely depends on your local dollar stores, but where I am they actually sell decent produce for less than regular grocery stores. 6 oz of blueberries are $1 as opposed to $3. One giant avocado is $1 as opposed to $1.25 for a medium/small one. Tons of other produce. $4 bottles of wine that end up on the shelves of regular liquor stores for $8+ once they get their business going. They sell plenty of non-perishables sometimes for less than regular prices and sometimes a bit higher unit price but in a smaller portion so you can pay for $1 worth instead of $4 worth. A lot of their non-food items are much higher quality than you'd expect and sometimes popular name brand overstock. I have really good clear no-slip bathtub mats that would have been at least $8 at Walmart or elsewhere that were $1 there. When they start looking off I put them in the washing machine with bleach and they're clear again.
