Why would you ever pack that shit instead of just dried pasta, rice, or beans?
I make spice and salt mixes and put them in a 35 mm. film canister and usually make a stew of some sort after I make camp.
Dried goods as stated, maybe a salami or some other cured meat that doesn't have to be kept cold and can be diced up. The spices. Any animal you manage to catch or shoot, we often bag a hare or pheasant but almost never catch any fish. Dehydrated veggies or fruits maybe. We like to do oatmeal with dried apples in the morning.
All oats are "instant oat meal" by the way. You don't have to pay extra for fancy packaging.

That entire image looks like it's made by a larger who never leaves the house. Fucking Splenda? If you're seriously /out/ you'll want some real sugar ffs. This guy just took at the goodies from mum's cupboard and put them in plastic bags.

Stupid question.

When I take the steak outside the fridge and dry it with paper towel it will still be moist after 15 minutes as well as the plate under.

That info graphic says that I should rub sea salt all over the steak as soon as I take it out the fridge but I find that this makes the steak “sweat” even more: am I removing the salt when I pat it dry before cooking it?

Any tips?

I don't understand how you guys can watch that sport.
I've been to a few Superbowl nights and each time I was very grateful for all the beer and snacks, because the shit going on on the TV was fucking worthless.
I could see the sport being interesting if it flowed back and forth on the field the way you get with "soccer" or basketball or hockey etc. but they KEEP FUCKING STOPPING THE GAME.
There's so much standing around and repositioning and waiting and bullshit when they should be ramming into eachother and fighting for the ball.
It's so incredibly SLOW. It's such a strange way to construct a game that regularly causes fractures and concussions.

Baseball is slow.
Think of American football as watching a bunch of smaller clips of action linked together by periods of time you know you can chat with your friends.
Sometimes you can get games where the offense is rushing asap to not give defense time to plan, and sometimes they're just trying to run the timer down. It's hit or miss though, if the game isn't close then I find it boring. The superbowl usually has fun commercials, so that's generally worth watching even if the game ends up being lackluster.

Might make it easier to cut all the way through certain kinds of vegetables like onions. Just cut in the trough and it would be guaranteed to make it all the way through and not leave a little bit of skin holding the vegetables together.

this works WAY better with wine yeast and it's super cheap. they sell the shit everywhere to. i've seen it at walmart.
also a balloon with a needle prick in it works decent as an air lock or you can just make one with basic shit where you run a hose out of the next, seal it up and put the hose in a bowl of water. you can ghetto rig this with any kind of tube and any kind of seal for the lid.

also you will NEVER get 14%abv out of bread yeast. maybe 4-8 and that 8 is on the SUPER high end.

I’m not the person you’re replying to but I’m amused I read this, as just today I was pricing wine making paraphernalia for my future Concord grape harvest
Don’t get me wrong a balloon with a hole in it sounds like a great idea, and would probably work beautifully, but an air lock is under $1.50 tax included for me so I’ll probably still splurge on the real thing

i would and i do have a bubble lock but i assume this is some ghetto shit wit things you can grab at walmart though. the balloon works fine. i've drank dozens of batches of muscadine *texas grape* wine made like that. . you can actually tell when the batch is done because the balloon will inflate when it's super active and deflate when it's done. when the balloon is standing up right but not like under pressure you know it's time to filter.

this isn't true. i am having to cook a specifically low iodine diet right now for someone going through thyroid cancer treatment.

there is a TON of iodine in anything dairy, egg yolks, potato peels, celery anything from the ocean including sea salt *they say doesn't contain because it has less but still there" and a bunch of other shit i'm cooking without.

try cooking with the diet i've been providing and you'll see just how many things have iodine.

grated carrots are a meme, they release lots of juice throughout the sauce, ruining the colour
just chop them into quarter sticks then dice very thinly, gives some crunch which is nice for texture as well
also the onion size is a joke, who wants massive strands of onion in a pasta sauce. paprika and cumin or pepper etc also works well

rugby players are definitely hard. I don't think anyone will argue against that.

Football players hit harder, mostly because of the padding.

Interestingly, one of the solutions for the injury crises that currently exists in american football is to strip away the padding and force hits similar to rugby. The last time we saw a development like this led to the XFL which was a shitshow for more reasons beyond being bad football however, it did show that the crowd who thought they were motivated by this ground-shaking hits actually didn't like them. We can also see that by the gradual reduction in those type of hits in the NFL motivated by both rule changes and player desires.

So, what's next for american football? We'll I think we can look towards another league that was forced to respond to an injury crises of their own: the NHL. We have seen significant injury causing hits being severely punished and the overall reduction in the enforcer position. This has resulted in a faster game that has more targeting but less hits in general. This is a topic of hot debate in the hockey crowd of whether this development is a positive thing, but a reduction in significant hits is a positive. American football can learn from this. It may even change the game for the better. regardless of the impact, the game itself needs to change. It's coasting on the idea of existing as a ghetto-escape-route but that is not a sustainable solution.

It's an interesting time for the NFL and we may see more rugby influence. We may also see the continuation of the death of the sport, who knows.

I know I would never let my kids play american football in it's current form.

My father told me that back in yugoslavia cutting down a tree would become a social event. He asked his dad why they didn't just use a chain saw and they laughed because the point was to take fucking forever so you could get drunk, play chess, and avoid the wives.

Football on a Superbowl Night is just background noise akin to the two guys who were actually cutting the tree til they changed places with two other chess-playing alcoholics.
