So this dude says that eating 800 calories is the best way to lose weight. What the fuck do you eat if you're restricted to 800 calories? Wouldn't you just be starving all the goddamn time?

>> No.12844144

Yes you would be. That's what would cause the conversion of fat reserves to energy, resulting in lost weight.

Best for whom?
I lost 25 lbs over the course of two months, and I ate between 2500 and 3000 calories a day. Walked +20K steps every day, though.

It sounds like you do intermittent fasting along with calorie restriction so maybe you do OMAD and just eat one average meal for dinner each day. Whenever I’ve done IF I eat like a pig as soon as my eating time opens up but I still manage to lose weight. A Big Mac and small fries is about 830 calories, that seems like not much but I’m sure you could cook up a much more filling and tasty 800 calorie meal yourself

You do it by eating mostly lean protein and vegetables. Off the top of my head I'll break something down for you

Breakfast 4 egg whites plus 1 egg, and 1/2 cup cottage cheese, and 1/2 cup spinach. Scramble all together with some non stick spray. Close
To 200 cal over 30 gm protein

Snack - 1 greek yogurt- 100 cal 10-15 gm protein. Depends on brand

Lunch - green salad with 2 tbs homemade Dijon dressing, with a 1/2 cup of tuna or sardines on top. 250 calories 14-16gm protein

Dinner- 4 oz grilled chicken breast on a bed of raw spinach, too with 1/4 c lentils, and a light dusting of Parmesan. Around 300 cal and over 35 gm protein

Dessert - sugar free jello with a dollop of whipped cream or 1 square >70 dark choc.

Water, tea, coffee, occasional diet soda etc. no alcohol and if you need creamer you should use almond milk. If you need a snack then go with beef jerky.

>> No.12844598

>>12844520
For the lunch protein that should be 19-24 grams instead of the 16 gm. Anyway you will be around 85-90+ gm of protein total. Unless you swap out the Greek yogurt for a lite beer or small glass of wine. I guess you could do that if you wanted to and it wouldn't affect calories too much.

Non-metric units make so much more intuitive sense.
Inch = thumb width.
Yard = arm's reach.
Mile = 1000 paces.
Pint = beverage serving.
Gallon = comfortable amount to carry.
Bushel = ditto.
Fahrenheit: 0 = uncomfortably cold, 30 = chilly, 50 = cool, 70 = nice, 90 = hot, 100 = uncomfortably hot.
Etc. They're not easily converted into each other like metric, but they make more sense in real life.

Very Low Calorie Diet were the successor to starvation diets and they were by and large pretty safe, unlike starvation diets. Then modern dieticians (ie. the ones which have failed for decades) started trash talking them and it's been downhill ever since.

That said, it's pretty much impossible to make a real food VLCD. So you eat shakes.

I do the 800 calorie (or so, sometimes I'll go up to 1200 on a "special" day) diet when I'm looking to lose weight, and it's really not bad at all.

I eat a ton of raw veggies with Valentina hot sauce (0 calories), and turkey or chicken breast during the day. I count everything out. At the end of the day, I have a pretty large, filling meal, and I go to sleep. No drinks but coffee or water.

It works just fine. It's so much better than trying to eat 1800 calories or whatever, and marginally losing a lb. per week over time.
