It's just weird hearing people talk about "cold brew" like they weren't calling it "iced coffee" a few years ago. I can see if you're talking to a server/barista, you call it whatever the menu says, but "cold brew" has become the normal conversational word for cold coffee in the span of about 3 years and I feel like I'm in the matrix.

Imagine being the guy who decided to make this happen. I wonder how they did it and why they bothered.

Cold brew and iced coffee are different things you dolt. One is brewed hot and then made cold while the other is brewed cold.

Are you about to tell me that iced coffee is coffee made hot and then cooled, and cold brew is steeped cold overnight? Because if so you're making the mistake of taking for granted that that's how people really use the term "cold brew."

In real life when you hear the words "cold brew" they're almost universally talking about simply "coffee that is cold."

This is 100% a shift in marketing language, people didn't suddenly become obsessed with the way their coffee is made.

That's a different thing, there have always been some percentage of meme coffee drinkers like vacuum perc guys, but beyond any discussion of methods of brewing it's undeniable that (at least in america) the generic term for cold coffee has very recently become "cold brew."

All the big coffee chains use different methods to make it. Just because some retard in Nebraska pours his Folgers over ice and calls it “cold brew” doesn’t mean the vast majority of people don’t know they’re different things.
