usually people are fat because "I eat healthy!" but they forget to mention the 3x daily calorie intake of soda/beer.
either that or they're constantly snacking between meals.
if you drink a 6pack of beer or 2 bottles of soda every night you'll gain weight easy.

I've always had issues gaining weight and there are virtually no resources, they tell you that to gain muscle you need to eat this and that but they don't tell you how you're magically supposed to consume twice your regular amount.

First you need to do more excersize, no questions asked whatever you're doing now is not giving you enough of an appetite, if you do more you'll be hungrier.

Secondly, you need to snack between meals. Have 3 proper meals but make them slightly smaller than normal and in-between have doughnuts, chips, peanut butter sandwiches, anything that is delicious enough that you'd eat it anyways despite your hunger. The food itself won't do anything nutritionally for you, this is just a temporary step, after you do this for 3+ months your body will naturally want more food, at that point instead of shitty snacks you can either eat 3 larger meals or you can have 5-6 smaller meals of proper food.

I went from full ectomorph to normal sized, then I did weight training and got some muscle and finally stopped working out and now I'm normal weight again, but I've never gone back to being very underweight like I was for the first 26 years of my life. As an extra minor point you also need to have a job or money coming in, when I was a student I had a very small budget and wouldn't waste money on snacks and that screwed me for years, once I was working I could buy anything that looked good and it was relatively easy from there.
