why the fuck do i suck so much at storing food. half of what i buy ends up in the garbage.

arent you supposed to rinse and dry mushrooms?
why dont zucchini last longer than 2 weeks?
ground beef should last forever if frozen early enough.

You shouldn't be planning on storing fresh produce for 2 weeks. What makes you think that's viable? Shop more frequently and buy less

Try being more subtle with your bait.

this is your only option if you want to eat fresh produce. go to the store once a week and get two or three vegetables, and have a plan on how you will use them throughout the week. i used to do what you did and i’d end up throwing way too much in the garbage because it went bad. have a plan and don’t let anything sit for more than week.

it also helps if you put the produce in a plastic grocery bag with a little water and tie the handles to seal it, but only if you have a shitty fridge without a proper produce drawer like i do

you are never supposed to wash mushrooms, WTF?

WHY would you wash the one thing you are never supposed to wash?

They don't soak up water. You wash them because they're grown in shit. You wanna eat shit?

>believing that myth
Even if they did absorb water, you'd just cook them longer. You can't overcook a mushroom.

Buying things only when you have a specific plan to use them is a good idea. But certain vegetables are definitely more durable than others. For example, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower all last quite a long time.

Absolute retards who have never noticed how porous and spongey mushrooms are. The point is that you're not washing anything off, you're just diluting the filth with water enough that it's easy for the mushroom to absorb. Pointless endeavor to wash them.

Mushrooms are semipermeable membranes. That means water goes in, but dirt cannot, even if it's really "diluted".

You definitely want as much water inside the mushroom as possible if you're going to saute or broil.
Mushrooms can't be overcooked, just dried out. Mushrooms will brown even filled to bursting with water. more water = more browning.
You can use oil too, but then your shrooms will be soggy since oil can't evaporate.
