I'm sorry, but if you work in the restaurant business in any capacity, there should be a standard of cleanliness that people should adhere too. We went and ate at a very highly recommended "upscale" restaurant yesterday.

>waiter has absolute black filth - maybe car oil- under his fingernails while serving our hair laden food and smells of BO.

I sent food back, asked for manager, stated my case, got a refund and left. Please have some respect for yourselves, the restaurant, others that work with you, and the customers. Your Hands-especially- should be kept impeccably clean and staff shouldn't reek.

Chefs/cooks hands and nails get stained from the food they handle all the time, but as long as they're washing them regularly, I'm fine. However, waitstaff should NEVER have dirty nails or hands. That's unacceptable, especially since you know they're not cooking, they're just carrying your food, so that means whatever it is that's under their nails isn't from work/fresh food.

The super long fake acrylic nails that the women wear are just as awful. I hate them and don't understand how they even wipe themselves with those long fake talons. They are notorious for harboring bacteria and where I used to work they were not allowed.

Any restaurant I've worked in has had pretty rigid standards, and usually asshole chefs that hate their lives

I just quit my last job because the "chef" was like this and didn't think he looked like a homeless embarrassment so sometimes he would come out to your tables to try and talk to them.
How embarrassing. Yes he works here, he's the "chef," yes he cooked your food like that with his greasy disgusting long hair all over his shoulders and coat.
