Im from mexico and some places use "double tortilla" on their tacos to make them more resistent to the "wetness(?)" Of the tortilla when its soaked in salse.

Anyway that shit seems like the americanized taco, so i doubt its the same

The outer layer is soft like a pillow in the early morning, the shell within is still dense enough to give a crunch. Many satisfying textures to bite through, great flavors, and if you are messy you can claw the leftover lettuce/meat on the plate. Perfection~

It’s kind of an American thing. Personally I like to put the flour tortilla on the outside with a layer of refried beans between the tostada crunchy tortilla thing. I don’t like to call it a “crunchy taco shell” because I feel like I should know better.
