The vast majority of cases of toxoplasmosis are contracted by eating undercooked meat or underwashed vegetables. Cats only shed the parasite for the first week of infection. Owning a cat is not a strong predictor for toxoplasmosis.

Yeah, if that little nigger goes on the counter it's an immediate toss into a cold shower. I use the water bottle for more minor things. At the end of the day cats need to know you're running a tight ship where punishment is instantaneous and severe or they don't respect you and are therefore unhappy. Most of their tests are to make sure you're still on top of things so they can feel safe. That plays right into the cat's wheelhouse, which are brief and easily anticipatable by the cat brain. A much better deterrent is to scruff the fucker and combine with cold water, but fuck with the timing, noise, and all other factors to make it completely unpredictable by the cat, but known to always end very poorly. i moved into a flat 3 months ago with two people, there's 2 cats and i mostly get along with them. they sniff my stuff, but they dont eat my food, have to really push them to eat some crumbs but they're well fed. i've more used to dogs and sharing food with them, feels more bonding that way.

however last month the younger one crawled onto me purring a lot then suddenly she bit me on the arm and broke skin when i tried to get up slowly. luckily i have good control and didnt freak out, just gently eased her off. then she bit my other arm, not as much strength as the first time. i then proceeded to cold shoulder her for 2 weeks. decided that was enough, then we did some face nuzzles, and she nipped me on the chin. cold shoulder treamtent for three weeks. she's calmed down now, sometimes nips my fingers, but i have no idea what's going on, i'm used to dogs. been meaning to get a water sprayer, but i dunno feels excessive now.
