>a burger is a treat

Most Americans don't think a burger is a "treat". We think it is just food. It's an option for a meal. Kids eat burgers for lunch at school. We eat burgers at home for dinner. We eat them when traveling because it's easy to find and tastes good.

I am not sure where you got the idea it's a "treat". Yes, it is often bought in a fast-food chain, but a burger is also a really common meal item at many regular, sit-down restaurants. Burgers are really common across the US. Most people don't cook and eat them every day at home, but it's still quite common to make one at your house for a meal.

No it’s a normal meal. You make it a treat by drowning it in grease and sauce.

So about 8g if bioavailable protein.
In a fucking 8oz burger.
Less than a third of the bioavailable protein you'd get from an actual burger of the same size.

you see, that's your problem. you Americans think that burgers are just food, pizza is just food, BBQ is just food, coke is just water, veggies are just for health nuts and exercise is just for athletes. that's why you also think BMI of 30+ is just normal.

All countries eat a diet based on grains and meat and veggies, the asians with stirred fries, the middle east with every meal, etc etc, it's always meat, grains, vegetables for a balanced meals

We just do it better for maximum appeal

>> No.12686751

>for "balanced" meals
yep, enjoy your 40%+ calories from fat. and if you want carbs, just balance it out with coke for a 1k calorie meal, I'm sure your body won't care and you won't give yourself diabetes with all that insulin rollercoaster. our heart attack patties with loads of saturated fats are just as good and healthy as every other diet! so there's literally no difference, we Americans are just #1 as always

I think when people are talking about burgers as a treat, it's usually something like a bacon cheeseburger with no vegetables, and part of a generally unhealthy meal that has a bunch of greasy french fries and soda.

But a burger is just a sandwich, it can be healthy or unhealthy depending on a bunch of different factors. It's not necessarily an unhealthy treat anymore than any other regular sandwich would be.

>> No.12686771

>>12686751
>This

Too many people see a burger as just a part of a meal which needs sides and a drink. Lately I've been seeing a burger as itself the entire meal. Carbs, fats, protein all in a handheld serving. No need to get greasy fries or anything other than water to drink.

It's only ok to have this once a day, provided you balance it out with a meal of grains/vegetables.
if you take a big burger like double quarter pounder with cheese, it has 770 calories and 45g of fat. it is generally recommended to stay within 44 grams to 77 grams of fat per day. meaning if you eat one of these, you better eat fruit and vegetables the rest of the day, which no one does.

>> No.12686911

This neurosis about what you eat is part of what’s making everyone fucking fat.

A burger is not that bad nutritionally. You would have to eat a particularly large or elaborate one three times a day for it to start making you fat or unhealthy. It is the whole day’s eating that you have to worry about, not what you ate for one meal. Just because burgers are considered an icon of obesity doesn’t mean they’re actually what’s killing you. The problem is likely more to do with what you’re drinking and snacking on because you’re not thinking of them as meals.

it's like pasta. It's not like it's a bad food, but eating it all the time is bad, too calorie dense. But pasta tastes amazing when you have it once a month rather than once a week or day.
