Milk goes into a strong scottish or irish tea, lightens it up and makes it yummy and creamy in the morning, to get your kick of dairy with your butter n toast. Earl grey, on the other hand is citrusy, it's more the astringent nature on the throat. You just sugar it and enjoy the aroma. Many brands even double up on the oil of bergamot and call it things like earl greyer,
