My entire point was that drinking soda and regularly eating sugary desserts is worse for your palate than smoking. Yeah, when I quit smoking for a couple weeks it's like my nose is discovering the world for the first time, but people addicted to sugar still have a much harder time tasting things properly than I do after half a pack of reds. Sure it's anecdotal, but there's no question in my mind that regularly eating sugary stuff is the number one way to kill your taste buds.
