Why do people always post this stupid remark in threads about this burger? Next time, as an experiment, order a filet of fish without cheese or sauce and see what it tastes like. It has very little flavour. The cheese and the sauce give it a big boost, and in the original filet of fish these flavours are in perfect balance, like the cheeseburger, quarterpounder or big mac, any original classic burger. If you just take one part of the burger and double it, that doesn't make it twice as good. Instead, it throws off the balance of flavours that made it good in the first place. In the case of the filet of fish, it just makes it blander, since there's not enough sauce and cheese to cover the blandness of the filet. If they doubled the sauce and the cheese, it might be ok, but they don't. DOUBLE IS BETTER is dumb.

It's probably the best example of something you can do better at home with absolutely no effort. A filet of some bottom feeder tossed in cornstarch and some seasoning and fried in a pan for a few minutes tastes fine and has good texture but the filet-o-fish is mushy and tasteless even out a deep fryer.
