Should restaurants put prices for everything on their menu?

>> No.12625980

>>12625969
No. You should be able to pick out something because it sounds good without letting the cost affect your perception of taste.

Does cost affect pleasure?

If this same beer were $3, would that improve the experience of drinking it?

>> No.12626001

Why did you pick that image of all things. Yeah it's really annoying when prices aren't listed.

Should dentists put prices on the menu?

That's what we called a corrupted system.

honestly, yes. Im a broke college kid and while expensive beers often taste great, there something about a good deal that just makes things more enjoyable to me. Like anything over 4-5 bucks for a craft beer and I start to feel like im just wasting money

anything that is charged for, yes, and frankly should be law.
otherwise you could charge people for 30 dollars for a cup of water

>>12625989
for the same beer? Why yes, having a good deal instead of being surprised at a 'gotcha'
I don't mind paying a couple extra bucks for something they actually make at a restaurant compared to a 'standard' price
but having to pay extra for something that I know was prepackaged and just opened is bad enough, little less when they have the audacity to add on an extra 2-3 dollars of 'well its a restaurant lol' tax

OP here.
The beer in question is a locally brewed beer. The regular single aged is $3 a pint. The special double aged is $5.
For $8, you get the double aged straight from the barrel and keep the glass.

>>12626099

yeah i'd be good with that, they should still have it written somewhere though if they bothered to write that you get the damn cup.

Then dont buy the glass. For a $.50 cheap Chinese print glass you can get over 2x the beer

Sorry - I meant when you go directly to the brewery.

It was $8 at some burger restaurant.

>> No.12626212

either way the glass is a souvenir, you'd never buy two of them if thats the case.
most people i'd say that have a beer with food feel comfortable having two beer, but at that price point it's extremely hard to justify

Not putting prices on the menu is elitist hipster garbage and fuck restaurants that do that shit.
That being said $8 is pretty standard for a decent craft beer. What were you expecting? I'm assuming it wasn't some bullshit like Bud Light.

that's high markup but not insane. restaurants usually run about 25% food cost

Unless it's a steakhouse. Then you can expect a 50% markup on a shitty steak you can easily make at home.

Food usually takes time, effort and skill to prepare. It's also perishable and a lot gets thrown out. Pouring beer into a glass costs almost nothing apart from the cost of the beer.

To be fair, prices for fresh seafood and some other types of food vary from day to day so much that it just doesn't make sense to try and list a price.
