Can I get some stout recommendations? This is all I've tried, really liked it but I'd like to explore less basic ones

Most beer retards fail to remember how they even developed a taste for the stuff. What do you expect

>> No.12614870

>>12614854
I mean they're all seasonal, I've found some of them even at the nearby grocery store. KBS and CBS are expensive but Breakfast Stout not so much if gotten in season, also it doesn't do anything too novel or weird but it's a classic. Sounds actually like a pretty good starting point for beginners tbqh.

if they're new to stouts, sure, but if they're new to beer in general i wouldn't recommend the expensive stuff imo.

are the best options mentioned in here. Also whatever any local breweries have in the way of basic stouts and porters are probably good to try, just to get more of a base line.

Literally just go to any beer aisle and pick our a stout. They're not all equal but the best way to develop your own taste is to just try things. Variety over time is the best way to hone your palate

Dragon's Milk tastes like someone brewed a half decent imperial stout then poured in a large shot of vodka. There's a lot of better stouts out there besides that boozy mess.

>> No.12616125

>>12614582
decent, no risk stout. No shame in it. If you ever get the chance, Kirin beer makes a decent stout for wicked cheap.
>>12614604
I had it at a restaurant and didn't see the point in it. Probably just didn't pair well with the food, but it wasn't what I was expecting when going for stout.
Can someone tell me if Old Rasputin Imperial is any good? I'm a sucker for esoteric looking labels.

>> No.12616149

>>12616125
As an imperial stout, rasputin is pretty smooth and I would rate it above average. Although, it's 9%, so if you're not used to that it might be overwhelmingly strong.

>Alesmith Speedway Stout
available at most BevMos intense chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavors
>Societe Brewing The Butcher
arguably the best stout I've ever drank. high alcohol and chocolate flavor; super smooth

Founders Breakfast Stout is a perfectly fine place to start for breaking into higher end stouts. It's distributed basically nationwide and not hard to find at all. It was the stout I tried that really showed me how much better a beer could be than the shit I'd been drinking.

KBS and CBS might be a bit much for an inexperienced pallet. They also might take bit more searching, maybe hit a bottleshop or whole foods.

>>12614582
Where do you live OP? It's really the most important info to know when recommending beer because it's so regional.
The best nationally distributed ones in this thread are:
