Has the French champagne always been celebrated for its excellence?

>> No.12589408

Champagne is a region of France. Ton of white wines with bubbles can compare with cheap champagnes. Like crément d'Alsace.

all champagne is exceptional when you're completely sauced 24/7 for the last 25 years of your life

Yes but where does Paul Masson fall on that list?

champagne is just seltzer mixed with white wine, don't let them fool you.

>> No.12589613

>>12589605
What absolute bullshit. It doesn't even make sense. Seltzer is made by filtering the wine out of champagne.

>Oh, actually all champagne is French, it's named after the region. Otherwise it's sparkling white wine. Americans, of course, don't recognize the convention so it becomes that thing of calling all of their sparkling white champagne, even though by definition they're not.

The reason those outtakes exist is because he drank the reds on shoot day.

>I live in Verneuil on Rue de la Motte on the first floor. My name is Patrice Appât. I’m 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and a rigorous drinking routine. In the morning if my stomach is a little rumbly, I’ll pour a glass of champagne while eating my breakfast croissants. I can do a thousand now. After I finish the drink I use deep lung cleansing Gitanes. After shower I use a water activated dram of whisky, then a glass of full bodied red, and on the face an invigorating shot of pastis. Then I apply a white wine facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with some or lots of alcohol, because alcohol perks your face up and makes you look cooler. Then calvados, then a nicely aged cognac followed by a final refreshing glass of absinthe. There is an idea of a Patrice Appât, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my drunken gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am too French.

Unpopular opinion, but I feel like champagne is a bit overrated. Never had the really expensive ones of course.
