Almost all chilies have a dried version, sometimes more
>Chipotle is dried and smoked jalapeño
>Morita is dried and slightly smoked ripe jalapeño

>>12588388
Chilies are used for flavor, the idea that chilies are supposed to be only spicy is a meme invented by asians. If you buy mexican chile de árbol it will be very spicy and have an aroma, buy what’s grown and imported from China and you will get de árbol that is inedible by itself and have next to no aroma
Still, Mexico has the biggest variety of chilies in the world

Americans are the only ones tgat name their things with descriptors. Everyone else names their products with original names, very few times you will guess if something is a derivative of something else just by their names. And personally I like that more, gives a deeper dimension to language.
And dried chilies are so different from their fresh counterparts that they are basically completely different ingredients

As I wrote, here are a few, there are a lot more but fuck it I'll make a good list some other time...

In no specific order:
http://penderys.com/
https://www.sonoranspice.com/
https://www.thespicehouse.com/spices/chiles
https://www.penzeys.com/

These are amongst some that I've personally dealt with and imo are honest. Some others are ones I've either gone to in green markets or ordered from whose names I don't remember or just found in asian markets but they have a very limited selection.

>We just do it differently in English, sometimes we use the Spanish
Americans put random Spanish adjetives with no rhyme or reason aside from looking exotic. There is a difference between something like "tostada" and "Tortilla beef locos chips crisp bake ay caramba™". If Americans were to have named chipotle chilies they would have named it either something childish like "Super Smoke chile" or "Matador Montezuma Reaper X", or they would have called it "Smoked and dried green jalapenos". Heck, "Jalapeño" might be too original, they would probably be called them "Smoked and dried green chilis", God forbid you have to learn a new word.
Americans have the minds of an out-of-touch 50 year old executive, they are either boring as a business-meeting pptx or overcompensate when trying to apear alive.

>>12594114
Just cook European food. Bell peppers and manny other chilies are European inventions. Chilies have the habit of changing a lot when grown in a different ecosystem.

When investigating this I saw that the chili was made by the "PuckerButt Pepper Company" in South Carolina, not an individual farmer, the re-naming progress (It was originally named "HP22BNH") was probably done trough a marketing board, no wonder the name is so soulless
