does good cauliflower exist? I dreaded it my whole life and I'm not very picky. last time my family made it, they barely finished it.

How do you guys cook it?

just fried, IIRC

at least it's not broccoli

It's delicious if you toss it in oil and roast or grill it and get lots of browning, then it turns kind of nutty and nice, like brocolli does.

Otherwise it's not good and needs a load of cheesy sauce on it or pureed with a shitload of butter and then it's basically just a bland excuse to eat fat.
Not overcooked steamed brocolli is nice but cauli isn't.

I like to roast it in spices, then toss it with yogourt, lemon juice, zest, minced garlic, and loads of fresh herbs.

The one problem is that it's hard to get the flavourful browning before it goes soft in the middle. It's best with a little bite to it. My oven on full isn't hot enough to nearly burn it on the outside and have a bite on the inside.

Deep fry it. One of the servers I work with is a half-assed vegetarian, and wanted me to make her cauliflower in some sort of way. Tried it breaded first, and it was alright. Did them again in a batter, and was much better.

Gobi Manchurian. You'll understand when you try some

>> No.12587817

If you don't find it appealing, use some strong seasoning with it. It's fairly neutral so you can flavor it in lots of ways. For example, you can make a cauliflower pasta dish with things like anchovies, capers, garlic, lemon juice, and chili flakes. With all that acidity and pungency, it won't be bland. It's also good in curry, with cumin, garlic, ginger, chilis, onions, etc.

Cauliflower is the least offensive vegetable of all time, it has little flavour. It does smell like farts though if you grate it raw.

cauliflower is bland by itself .
it is a flavor vehicle though so spice and add things like red onion and potato or bell pepper
chop the cauliflower into small bits and pan fry with bacon , then add cheese
it is hard to eat on it's own it needs to pairded with other stuff

objectively wrong Broccoli is fantastic when prepared right .. sautéed in butter with chicken and spices or beef and spices ,served with rice or noodles
that shit is the bomb

Based, I could eat that for days.
I cook my cauliflower in a steak form, after i marinate it in olive oil and shawarma seasoning. Very rustic and full flavor

>cauliflower is bland by itself .
>Broccoli is fantastic when prepared right .. sautéed in butter with chicken and spices or beef and spices ,served with rice or noodles
that's what i have an issue with. by itself, cauliflower tastes like farts. yeah you could cover it with 3 layers of chicken, butter and spices to make it edible. but what's the point of having cauliflower then? beats me

I don't know man, I just steam if lightly. Why are you so hell-bent on liking cauliflower?

There is only one proper way to cook cauliflower

>> No.12592713

Mince the cauliflower by hand, relatively fine but not paste, add eggs +seasoning + flour (I like bbq sauce as well)and fry the patties off in oil

It is extremely neutral tasting. How fucked is your palate, OP? Are you able to eat any vegetable at all?

>> No.12592748

here where I live it tastes like farts. maybe it's different in America. I like nearly all other vegetables otherwise

>> No.12592769

Cook it for at least 4 hours in the oven @ 350F and you're good

>> No.12592856

>>12592748
it does taste like farts. I started calling it fart cotton. I'm fine with it in stir fry but I'm not gonna mow down on a pile of raw cauliflower like I've seen some people do.

>>12587758
it is and it isn't. same species, different cultivars.

>> No.12592900

>>12592856
fuck. oh well. I thought they were eating it here in my country because of poverty and cold climate. I really don't know why they would grow it otherwise. I can't imagine many Americans like it. unless it's for questionable health benefits
