Objectively speaking, it's Germany. Totally bland and one dimensional. Everything thing seems to be deconstructed. Schnitzel tastes like nothing most of the time except frying oil. German potato salad is a tragic mess. Brats have the worst texture. It's just gross all around. German beer is ok but has nothing on American beer.

British food is honestly just ‘not exciting’ more than its terrible.

Besides meme foods like haggis, most British food is just ‘alright I guess’. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, a fried breakfast, Sunday roast, Shepard’s pie etc are mostly not particular exciting or even interesting but are also hard to actively hate either.

Traditional British dishes make decent daily fare and top-tier comfort food but as somewhat lacking in pazazz and fuss, for a special occasion which is why between the 1700s and 1950s French food filled that role while now it’s all Indian Thai and whether the new fad foreign food is when you want to be fancy

First of all if you're using pure ground beef, you're not doing it right. You're supposed to tear up chunks of (God fearing American hu'wite) bread and mix that into the meat. This serves to absorb and retain the meat juices. Ketchup is also necessary for texture purposes, it doesn't need to be loaded with sugar though. Other seasonings include garlic and horseradish. Mix it all into a bowl, form it into a loaf and pop it in the oven.

Goddamn this bullshit again.
But hey lets start this from your side >>12581847
>gumbo, prawn poboy, other cajun, wiz witout, shoefly pie, anything the amish make
literally none of these are "universally regarded as good". I have never once, not ever seen any actual cajun dishes in any restaurant, nor had any desire to make them. I have no idea what wiz and shoefly are, I have literally never heard of them. Amish food, while comforting I'm sure is not "universally loved".
>clam chowder
I might grant this one - not "universally loved", but well regarded
>san fran sourdough bread
is literally just a type of sourdough bread, which, again, I have never once heard of
>apple pie
Is literally british.
>world class alcohol
gin, scottish whiskey, etc.

As for english foods that are universally loved, inarguably :
>sandwiches
Are literally a british invention. The modern form of the sandwich, which represents arguably one of, if not the most eaten foodstuff on the planet, and certainly in the western world, is british. Simple, comforting, adaptable. Now, I will actually grant americans the burger as a constrast. It is technically very old, and from hamburg, and realistically a kind of sandwich, but I'm generous : modern americanised burgers are universally popular as well.
>tikka masala
Is literally an anglicised curry. Its our as much as any "american style/fusion" dish is theirs. And it is very good.
>full english
one of the most satisfying breakfasts out there.
>pasties (meat pie)
listed by the mutt for some reason, but shock horror they're because of your british roots too, and they predate your country by centuries. They are very tasty though

filips are definitely not fussy eaters. I wonder why the saudis are such fussy eaters though - it seems like some nations I'd expect to be more fussy like india are actually much less fussy than countries with less distinct cuisines. I do find it odd hong-kong gets such low marks too tho. I find the french score on british food entertaining as well. Germany and denmarks low scores for it are also weird - british and germanic food share a huge amount in common - they're both comfort food, not show/restaurant style food, with heavy meat and cold weather veg influences, and finland rates british much higher than norweigan or swedish people do, when again their cuisines all seem to belong in a similar nordic grouping.

It's a pretty interesting chart desu. I'm not surprised italian rates so highly, nor jap/thai/french. I feel like american probably benefits from positive bias / not so much a lack of a national cuisine as just claiming anything they like as part of the national cuisine - I feel the score represents a good restaurant culture as much as anything. I'm not surprised the various nordic cuisines appear near the bottom either - I always find it surreal when british cuisine gets shat on when nordic cuisine is similar but with less choice and flavour. I don't even dislike them, they're perfectly edible just objectively blander.

Some of the lower-mid tier stuff might be debatable, but I'd honestly say most of it feels right. I honestly don't even like chinese, but I know its widely popular, it doesn't surprise me that it ranks so highly. German does feel mildly overrated, but again : this relates to the more simple aspect of "did you enjoy the food". I don't rate german food as high cuisine, but I don't remember finding anything to dislike about it when I visited. It was, at worst, perfectly acceptable. >apple pie being british
except it literally is you fuckwit. tarte tatin is, wait for it, a tart. apfel struddel is, wait for it - a strudel. I'd also point out that apple pies first appear in any kind of literature anywhere in chaucer in the fucking 12th century, wheras strudels were invented in the 18th. The only potential point of contention about apple pies is whether or not they're dutch or english - in reality it gets so far back in history it's hard to tell. Regardless, the modern apple pie americans harp as "as american as ...." is fucking british. You even inherited the period tastes of topping it with cheese for a while, until tastier apple cultivars rendered that moot.

>even the name is indian you mong
"omg those people named it appropriately, how dare they". You do realise you mutts call coriander "cilantro" because that's what the mexicans call it, right pedro? >British food isn't bad, but it's absolutly not world class cuisine
this much I don't dispute : however, it really isn't trying to be. Also, to be honest, I would be quite literally stunned if british cuisine wasn't in the top half of world cuisines. It is not, and is basically never claimed to be on a par with french or italian cuisine. It is also not, quite objectively not, and not even close to "the worst cuisine ever". By so far it would be less ludicrous to claim it was the best cuisine ever. Which is kind of what my entire point was about. as >>12593884 says, for whatever reason /ck/ has a hardon for thinking it's the worst cuisine ever. It's mostly just butthurt americans with a 250 year old chip on their shoulder about british people. It's a little surreal honestly. At least the french peoples attitude is understandable.

Okay buddy

Also if you learn to take the time and travel the USA or look for decent Cajun food (which is uniquely American), you would understand how universally celebrated those dishes are by those who went and actually ate the fucking thing (or cooked it themselves because they are not manchildren who can't bang two pots together and make their own meals)

Providence is smack dab between Jew York and Bawston, right on a bay, and just outside the city there were already seaside shacks that would fry up the daily catch for a very reasonable cost. They were everywhere if you got more than 20 minutes away from the city. There were also any number of diners within the city itself that were very much just like any of the ones I can find around here in Texas within 100 miles of Houston. The only real difference between flyover and coastie cuisine, as long as you're not going to the extremes of Manhattan vs Unironic Bumfuck is that one has access to fresh seafood, which is certainly nice to have but not really the end of the end of the world if you don't.

Fact of the matter is that most people will eat slop wherever they are and you can almost always find good food wherever you are, be that fine dining or good old comfort cooking or whatever you're in the mood for.

Japanese cuisine is literally the most overrated bland shit you can eat. A shame since they can be pretty autistic when it comes to the quality of ingredients.
And anything they've made good is only improved by Koreans.

a.) it's jellied
b.) haggis is a digusting piece of crap, and yet ironically many people would say "english" cuisine is the worst, despite the fact it's objectively the best of any of the 4 nations cuisines (and I say that despite very much liking ulster cuisine).

You seem to be missing the point : every nation has some weird shitty foods. I'd point out that apple pie topped with cheddar is still a thing in america. Rare, but it exists. Hasn't been here for over a century. I'd also point out that pink slime, spray on cheese, "american" ""cheese"" " , or such exciting recipes as corned beef luncheon salad https://www.cooks.com/recipe/sn19w5ou/corned-beef-luncheon-salad.html all come from your country. If your aim is to find shitty recipes, that is rather easy. Should I go find a recipe for depression era bread with added sawdust, or do you comprehend now?

I know of exactly nobody who is not mildly grossed out by jellied eels, let alone has eaten them (they're mostly a london thing), and haggis while I do know some people who've had it is literally just not a thing south of the scottish border.

>Also if you learn to take the time and travel the USA or look for decent Cajun food (which is uniquely American), you would understand how universally celebrated those dishes are by those who went and actually ate the fucking thing

And yet, here's the thing. They're not. I have never, ever, EVER seen a cajun restaurant. Never even heard of one outside of america. Now, I will admit i've never been to america (nor do I have any plans to because you lot piss me off to no end). However, i have been to, among other places, UK (native), ireland, canada, iceland, greece, spain, portugal, germany, austria, belgium, france, south africa, kenya, zambia.

Know how many cajun dishes I ever encountered, in all that time? None. Know how many people I've ever heard who insisted cajun food was super duper good, on the internet? Honestly, maybe 5? Ever. All american.

point is : your cajun food might well be nice. I'm sure done right it's very tasty. Want to know what it isn't, however?

Universally.
Celebrated.

It isn't even fucking close. Most of your own countrymen wouldn't think to mention it as noteworthy. Literally nobody and no country I've ever met outside of your own country thinks it's a noteworthy sub-cuisine. Not. One.

It just isn't that good, sorry pedro.

The spices. The British added the spices. You could say they added sauce, but sauce made from what? Spices mainly.

'Curry' just means 'sauce' in Punjabi, but they didn't call their dishes curry because they weren't sauce-based. The British used what was on-hand in India to make preserved meat more palatable, but preferring sauces they used the spices to develop their own recipes.

Most curries as they are known to westerners are a British-invention, using Indian flavour profiles in sauces.
