For me, it was anchovie pizza. I love making pizzas from scratch and last night I decided to give anchovie a go since /ck/ shills it so hard and I love canned fish. Big mistake. Fish and cheese do not belong together. I love salty and fishy stuff, but it just completely over powered the pizza. Was really sad to learn that this hyped pizza topping is just a meme and that no one actually likes it because it's disgusting.

Which for memes have fooled you guys?

People argue about pizza styles, and crusts, and toppings and all kind of shit, but I think the real sleeper subject when it comes to pizza is topping distribution. Typically I like an even distribution of toppings, but when you go with more extreme flavors such as anchovies I think it's actually preferable to be able to gauge how much you get in each bite. It keeps things interesting. Speaking of which, how come you never see whole anchovies on caesar salads anymore? That was the same thing; you eat your salad as usual, but take a little bit of anchovy with the lettuce here and there to add an extra bit of goodness to the bite.

Anchovies pizza is one of our most popular dishes.
But it is something else from the typical pizza. Even the dough is different.
But regarding the toppings, this is what we use over here, (everything is thinly sliced to cook fast and become crispy) (order from bottom to top): potatoes, garlic, anchovies (cut in bits not left whole), olives, capers, onions and bell peppers, tomatoes (left in big chunks, olive oil and s&p. And then basil to finish.
Usually takes much longer to cook than the usual pizza so you have to bake it differently, making sure the underside doesn't burn while the top is cooking.

I've seen this a million times, but this is the first time I actually looked at it and realized that I would really enjoy a pizza cut like that. There's 5 small slices with just a bit of crust, 5 big slices where you can eat crust and pizza in pretty much every bite, and then that fat pentagon in the middle.
