So, I was goin to cook pasta by this guide. Obviously I wasn't going to do pasta from scratch with flour and shit, so I just bought some in supermarket. So he says I need to boil it for 30 secs in water, while on the back of the pasta packaging there is instruction to keep it in boiling water for at least 8 minutes for al-dente. I'm completely confused now.

On the off chance you aren't trolling, the 30 seconds is only for fresh pasta. If you buy it from a grocery store, follow the instructions on the box.

Fresh pasta and dry pasta have different cooking times. Dry pasta has to be rehydrated which is why it takes longer to cook.

Fresh pasta only takes a minute to cook.
Dry pasta takes longer.
Follow the cooking instructions on the package.

I don't. I'm literally as retarded as Jack, while I am in the kitchen. I've been eating bland pasta for a year now, I want it to not taste like shit.

>bland pasta
You need to remember that pasta soaks up flavors, like most carbs. Which doesn't mean you have to make overseasoned pasta, but if it sits too long, it's going to become bland and need a little reseasoning. Make sure you taste as you cook, so you don't over season or under season.
