Gonna have a dinner date with my girlfriend in 2 days. She can't cook very well so give me some ideas for food that is fun to make for a beginner. Something that would require a decent amount of prep but then you toss it in the oven until its done would be best. No pizza as we just had pizza today.

Make some home made pasta, its easy but laymen think you're some kind of god tier lad. Also because you're making an Italian dish might as well make some Risotto, to make that fancy you could just hollow out a tomato and pop it in the oven with the risotto in it for a few minutes just to make the tomato soft and to bake the risotto a wee bit.
