Why are all this guy's recipes so goddamned difficult?
>12 hour brine time
> Spend $300 at the hardware store
> Re-wire something you bought at the hardware store
>Use 7 different pots
> God help you if you use a garlic press, because "muh unitasker"

Shit, dude, I just wanna make dinner!

Why would you use a garlic press tho? Microplane is the way to go.

Because they're good. A lot of them are for TV entertainment and education. If you want regular ass recipes just Google shit or watch literally any other show.

This. If you're looking for shortcut Tuesday night suppers watch Milk Street.

Alton Brown reversed his stance on the garlic press when one of his own chefs showed him how it can be used to rice just about anything that will fit in it without using a large machine.

I use one for ginger, egg yolks, and grated radish, as well as anything else I want riced, pressed, or crushed in smaller quantities.

He couldn't figure that out on his own?

I made hummus with it a few weeks ago
I wish I had a regular size ricer

What do you mean egg yolks? Like to separate the yolk from the white?

Alton Brown recipes complicated? Most of his stuff from the TV show seems pretty damn simple to me. You want to talk about some difficult recipes look at the stuff from the Great British baking show, try making a good princess cake without tearing your hair out in frustration

No, riced. Boil the egg. Take out the now solid yolk. Put in press. Squeeze.

I know it's trol but at least based alton teaches you the 'why's' of cooking.
I started watching good eats in 3rd grade and probably watched through the entire series at least 10+ times.
If it weren't for him idfk where I would be in the cooking world.

Is that guy still doing anything?

Alton Brown is not a real chef. He's a media personality. He grew up in the TV industry and daddy said he can have a TV show, so he went a culinary school while filming "Good Eats". Guy Fieri is more real than Brown. Brown is like Bill Nye (who is not a scientist, but he pretends to be one on TV so much that people think he really is a scientist).

It's a real shame what this guy has become these past 10 years. He used to be based, now he's just a basedboy.

Listen Chris, I like you a lot. But ATK is still better even without you.

>> No.12544601

Chris Kimball was and always will be ATK. Those fat dykes ain't shit. The show is mostly product placement now. Cunts giving you the most basic bullshit recipes. Chris built ATK from the ground-up.

I have a regular sized ricer. Garlic presses are more useful overall because I'm rarely crushing industrial portions of aromatics into my dishes. Ricer is really only useful for mashed potatoes.

calling them a unitasker doesn't even make sense. A wooden spoon is a uni tasker. Something that only does one job would be a monotasker.
