If you separate paper towels into basic layers, single layer functions as a filter. You can put it in a sieve and filter broth into being clear like a consomme or filter all impurities from deep frying oil for prolonged use. I used this oil six times and it's still pure and has barely any aroma. I feel like I can use this oil for three more days and then I think I'll just have to filter it twice.

Regardless of oil's clarity, it still breaks down every time you heat it up to frying temps. I totes agree with reusing oil multiple times, but 6+ times might be a bit much.

There is some rotation though. Some of the oil gets absorbed into the food and the impurities that get filtered away so I have to keep adding just a little bit of fresh oil every time. Around 50ml.

Paper towels don't release fibers into liquids. They're not the same as toilet paper.

ffs why not just use a coffee filter in a funnel? the bottom of my fryer build a thick muck after i let it sit for a few days so make sure to scrape that out with a rubber spatula

I use paper towels as a coffee filter if I run out of the crepe paper ones. Works ok. But you have to have the full square sheets so you can fold it into a cone. That rectangular select a size paper towel thing is total bullshit. Worst thing ever. Most people select 2 rectangles anyway, which is a greater use of paper towel than a square format. Fuck that shit.

i respectfully disagree you stupid cunt, learn to use utensils like a civilized human and the select a size is more then enough, also practice you napkin efficiency... fold it in half then fold again...start at on end and work your way to the other...when solid unfold to revel....wait for it ....more clean napkin

Wait, you thought I was talking about using paper towels as napkins? Nice.

>> No.12513582

Coffee filters are 500 for $2 and don't need to be split before use.
Kitchen paper is a 6-pack for $5. There are 44-sheets per roll, which means 500 "filters" once split.
Why the fuck would I spend more money for an inferior product that requires more work to utilise?

Me personally because I use paper towels daily for other things so they're always within my reach and I have no other use for coffee filters. So in my case it's actually choice between spending $2 for specifically filtering something 500 times which I will probably not use up in my lifetime and using $0.01 worth of paper towel every time I have to filter something while the rest of the towels gets used constantly anyway and peeling off one layer doesn't prevent the other two from being useful as an ordinary paper towel. It's silly money anyway so who cares.
