beans, beans, the magical fruit
probably the best canned food out there as long as it has the bacon fat in it. the only problem if you're drinking it out of the can, you have to be careful as to not cut your mouth on the edges of the can. i am older than fuck and still have a scar from cutting myself on a can of beans

use them the way you'd use red lentils
as in add enough water to boil them and then blend that shit into delicious puree.

Buying beans in a can is not poverty. Beans are $1/lb in cheap markets, maybe $1.29 for northern beans. This'll be at least 6 cans of beans.

Follow the directions on the bag and throw a couple hunks of leftover fat in there. Bacon is not poverty tier. You save your leftover meat scarps, right poverty guy?
>>12501427
lentils are also more expensive but they are required arsenal.
Beans require overnight soak and long cooking times. Lentils you throw in a covered pan and cover with water. Turn on the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Then throw in cheap white rice, and cover with water again, just barely, simmer for 15 minutes, remove from heat, sit for 5, fluff.
The true poverty food.
Of course if you use brown rice throw them in same time as lentils for the onger cooking time.

A big tip if you want some good Italian food: Marcella Hazan's famous tomato sauce recipe is extremely economical.

>1 gigantic can of whole tomatoes
>1 big lump of butter, like maybe 1/3rd of a cup or more
>1 onion, cut in half

Combine ingredients, bring to boil, simmer at least 1 hour, season with salt and pepper, remove onions if desired, blend if desired.

With this sauce as a base for your meals, you can make pasta, homemade pizza (dough from flour, yeast, vegetable oil, salt), tomato soup (add stock and cream, then blend), eggs poached in tomato sauce, and so on. A huge batch made with a 3L can of tomatoes lasts more than a week for me, eating it twice a day.
