Seriously though, if you can't tell the difference it doesn't matter. Vodka isn't like whiskey where there are different styles and nuances, but obviously some vodkas are better than others. I go through a couple handles a week and mostly buy Seagram's because it's the cheapest I can enjoy, but if I had the money I'd absolutely buy Chopin or (more likely) Kettle One. I drink it straight, though, and do so every day, so if you're making mixed drinks just pick something in the ~$15 range (seriously, Seagram's is underrated if you're just using it as a mixer). I reached my current level of alcoholism drinking martinis (started with gin, kek), but have gone through all the intermediate phases of becoming a seasoned alcoholic. I honestly don't think very many people can tell the differences between mid-range vodkas as well as someone like me. That said, Tito's and Grey Goose are overrated and not worth your time. If you happen to be at Costco their off-brand GG isn't terrible for $20.

Vodka should be consumed cold and neat. Even hobo-tier shit like Popov (which I drink at least a half-pint of daily) is smooth out of the freezer. Shaken over ice and strained is another patrician method of drinking it.
Absolut, Smirnoff, etc. are mediocre and overpriced. Goose, Ciroc, etc are a bit better but way overpriced.

tl;dr just buy Popov

Any alcohol that is not aged more than 4 years, should not be more than 30 dollars. Vodka, white rum, tequila, gin, basically anything NOT aged, shouldn't be more than 20. After distillation it is brought straight onto the production line, and as a result costs the least amount of money and resources to produce.

Tequila, at least in Commiefornia, is the worst offender of """""expensive""""" liquor. It is not uncommon for a bottle of Don Julio or Patron to be upwards of $50 here, while tasting no better/different than something along the lines of an $18 bottle of Espolon or Cazadores.

Vodka is like water. They're all gonna have some small subtle taste depending on what's left behind in it. The cheaper vodkas are cheaper because they only distill it a few times and use a basic filtering process. Along with probably cheap wheat or rotting potatoes. The top shelf ones usually either proclaim to have a special filtering process, how many times it was distilled, or maybe the quality of how they got the alcohol in the first place.
In a way, it's yes and no. Obviously the bottom shelf ones feel like drinking paint thinner rather than drinkable alcohol. More expensive ones can have a slight taste difference, but obviously no one is going to bother that much with it like whiskeys.

The only one that you should stay away from is Grey Goose. That is literally a scam, and is the same shit as Pinnacle.

There are different styles you alcoholic. It all depends on on the ingredient they used, and from that ingredient you can feel the different places it warms you up and the different mouthfeel. Potato vodka is creamy feeling, wheat has a smooth sweet feel going for it, rye is spicy and peppery.

If you're gonna drink vodka to see the differences, do it at fridge to room temperature. If you want to get trashed, freezing it ruins the vodkas feel and taste
