I know you are trolling, and doing a mighty average job at it. But your sledgehammer humour raises a valid point. Coffee, by itself is a fine albeit basic drink but is similar to spirits. It can be enjoyed by itself, or changed or "enhanced" with other ingredients. Like a Whiskey Sour or a Tequila Sunrise, both whiskey and tequila are fine by themselves and purists will always insist on their brand of spirit and the ideal way it should be served, but the addition of fresh juices, mixers, etc can (for some) increase the enjoyment of the base spirit. You will never see a spirit purist throwing a hissy fit though like a spoiled, western privileged soy boy does over black coffee.

It's not exactly rocket science, man.
For two decent mugs of coffee I use two heaping tablespoons of grounds. Depends on the size of your mugs and spoons of course.
I let the coffee bloom in just a little bit of cold water while I boil the rest of the water in the kettle. I let the boiling water cool down a little, sometimes just by adding a splash of cold water from the tap, so it's not boiling when I add it to the French press. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes before depressing.

What is it about an Italian espresso that makes it so good?

Every time I try to get one in the US its fucking shit and way too acidic. They have the exact same machines and are probably using the same coffee, especially the wannabe italian restaurants. Hell i've even been to places where the servers spoke italian, so I try to get an espresso and still it's SHIT. In other European countries they're pretty good, but still not quite the same. I'll have an espresso in Switzerland that will be pretty good (albeit overpriced) but I can literally pop over to an Italian border town and get an espresso anywhere there with a marked difference. What the fuck is it? What is the fucking secret everyone only within that country seem to know? Is it the water?
