Depends on how much you like your salt. I do this with most of my salads as well, especially caesar salads.
Unless the salad has a salty component, salt usually isn't added to a salad, other than what's in the dressing.

I use balsamic and vinegar but also salt and pepper since it's quicker to just throw it on at the end rather than seasoning each vegetable as I cut them and is very plain if I don't. But I also make salad a meal rather than a side.

At home, when making a dressing, yes, a pinch of sea salt goes into creamy or vinaigrette dressing as I whisk it all together.

I have done it in the past to like a meslun or caprese salad in a restaurant, but find that rarely have to salt a salad in a restaurant, though, unless it was some kind of stripped down creation without dressing, I guess. Like others state, there's usually a salty cheese, some antipasti toppings, salty croutons, olives, anchovies, or whatever. But, salt does enhance flavor.

As far as that other patron goes? He might have a different palate than you and he needs different sodium intake for his shit to taste good. Ex-smoker, sinus infection, and really just age, will affect your ability to taste food.
