Is this too much to peel away from an onion?

you just want to remove the parts that are turning into onion paper or too leafy

>using more than the internal most layer of the onion

i seriously hope you don't do this, anon

>> No.12435137

No, it's good to remove the first "normal" layer under the paper. It's tougher than the rest of the onion and won't cook evenly.

>>12434815
The worst that will happen is you waste 2 cents worth of onion

>> No.12435194

>>12434815
Yes. The outer layer remove, but not that inner layer.

yeah thats too much. you ruined the onion. throw it away and try again

>> No.12436316

Yes, but don't worry. Better remove too much than too little, and onion is cheap, just use more.

The fabled "Heart of the Onion"

>> No.12437097

The outer layers are the most nutrient dense, but they are a bit tougher than the inner layers. It's up to you.

>eating onions for nutrients
yikes

>> No.12438208

I take the outer bits of the onion (first layer + paper) and blitz them in the food processor with a dab of olive oil and salt to make an onion spread.

>> No.12439556

>>12434815
I always pull off the first layer instead of fussing over the dry outer layer. If you feel like it's too wasteful then put pieces like pic related in a freezer bag to use later for stock.

>> No.12439582

>>12435187
Put all the trimmings in a freezer bag in the freezer and use it for stock. So not really a waste.
