i used to smoke cigars, when i was 18 or 19, it seemed like an interesting affectation.

the only 2 i remember were:
-a torpedo made by Santa Rosa that was completely black and almost sticky

-a normal looking looking cigar with a Bering label. it was one of the most disgusting things i've ever had in my mouth. the only way i can describe it is salty compost mulch.

if you play golf or go fishing on a boat, it seems like that's when you should smoke cigars, since by the time you are done, your clothes will have aired out some.

This is a waste of time. You need to go to a cigar shop and just talk to people. At least half of the fun of getting into cigars is the social aspect. A good local shop will help you out with recommendations. If you keep coming back, theyll help you out more and more based off of what you liked or disliked about any certain cigar.

If you dont want to bother with that just go to a cigar website and look at their top 10 cigars for the year. Its a souless and lonely way to enjoy stogies

What a crock of shit. Surely it's enough that pipes and cigars have much lower cancer risks and the time you take out of your day to sit and relax and contemplate for 20, 40, 60 mins with a cigar or pipe has health benefits to be able to justify it to yourself. And smoke whenever you want to, most people don't like cigar smoke since its so heavy so I wouldn't focus on social occasions, just smoke when you feel the desire for it and tru out a bunch of cigars, go to your local tobacco shop and ask for a wide range of cigars.
My personal favorites are Paradiso's.
Oh and to give you a basic idea about flavor, the thicker a cigar the more smooth the flavor, thin ones tend to be sharper.
If you want to store cubans for a longer period get a humidifier, not all cigars are cubans and cubans in general are smoother then others.

Nicotine itself is not very addictive. As a nootropic, however, it does as part of its cognition enhancement abilities stimulate the reward center in a way that makes it easier to make habits, which is not the same thing as being addictive, it just means anything you do while high on nicotine will become easier to motivate yourself doing, which, for smokers, happens to be more smoking. Popular culture has unfortunately conflated 'tobacco' and 'nicotine' as one and the same. Tobacco itself naturally contains several alkaloids acting as MAOIs which amplify the addictiveness to levels much higher than nicotine alone. This is part of the reason why smokers find it really hard to quit even if they make use of nicotine patches or gum intended to help stop smoking. They're addicted because of the alkaloids from the tobacco. The vast majority of the health problems and addictiveness from smoking come from tobacco as a whole, not the nicotine specifically. Given all this, I find smokers to be some of the most retarded people on the planet. Nicotine is sold at rock bottom prices in gum, vape juice and patches, less than 30 cents a dose, but they instead choose to pay exponentially more money for the exact same thing, paying more and getting taxed to hell so they can kill themselves from the smoke, tar and additives, get addicted to tobacco, make themselves repulsive to anyone with a nose and reduce the value of every object they smoke around.

>> No.12433377

I don't see how that's a reply to anything said. The claim was that guy was stupid for calling nicotine not addictive. It isn't. Tobacco is. Cigar smokers certainly aren't above this, since it contains the same tobacco with the same strongly addictive alkaloids and the exact same health dangers, regardless of how hard they try to delude themselves into thinking there is something more classy about setting a weed on fire when it's called something else.
