Think I have to kill one of my roosters, found a hen limping. Her foot seems to have been injured, and her back is featherless. Somehow the alpha rooster isnt as rapey as the beta rooster. I guess it is the illusion of urgency: when the alpha is somewhere in the far end of the field the beta will make a beeline towards one of the hens and rape the shit out of her. I have another group of silkies with their own silkie rooster. the beta will even rape the silkie hens when the silkie rooster is preoccupied. While the alpha shows no interest, the beta never misses a beat. To my eyes, it is a problem of character. I refuse to dismiss it as beasts being beasts, and will probably have to choke the beta out come nightfall.
