>verdict on soy sauce
It tastes good and goes well with stereotypical Americanized Chinese food or with sushi, but it's also very easy to overdo. It helps to have it in packet form so you know you're adding an exact amount that isn't going to be too little or too much. When I use it at home in bottle form I almost always feel like I'm either not adding enough or else adding too much and kind of bounce back and forth between making myself feel sick with too much vs. being too worried about making myself feel sick to add enough.

Its literally not soy sauce, its a sauce that has some soy product in it along with corn syrup and food coloring. The term isn't regulated in the US sadly. It can not be legally sold as soy sauce in Asia and will ruin any Asian dish you put it in that isn't American Chinese

Right now I mix Igeta Kanro and Kikkoman Tamari Naturally Brewed soy sauce. The first one looked fancy so I bought it, and it has a very rich, almost smokey flavor. It's also very salty. The Kikkoman just tastes like regular soy sauce. The mixture was still a bit too strong flavored for sushi, but for Chinese food it works great.

Vodka is fermented potatoes instead of fermented grapes though. Enzymatic hydrolyzed soy protein through the traditional method for soy sauce and acid hydrolyzed soy protein through the quicker alternative method for soy sauce are both instances of hydrolyzed soy protein. So I don't think that analogy really works.

>it seems like it doesn't effect people's health
>Life expectancy is much higher
That doesn't mean it doesn't affect health. If two different people are heavy smokers but one of them is shot in the face and dies at 40 while the other one lives until 60 but then dies of lung cancer, does that mean smoking didn't affect their health? Not having other problems doesn't mean the problem you do have isn't a problem.

This doesn't make any sense at all. You make it sound at first like you're aware soy sauce and salt don't taste the same since you like one but not the other. But then you proceed to argue salt should be used instead of soy sauce to get the same taste for cheaper.

Idk what any of it is called but here I go

That chili paste they give you at Thai restaurants

That sweet brown sauce (I know soy sauce is an ingredient) they give you at sushi places or put on the sushi directly

Sriracha Mayo (definitely not Asian at all but if you haven’t mixed those two, mix them)

Horseradish (it’s what they claim is wasabi)

Pickled ginger

There’s a lot of sauces that are incorporated into meals, so finding a definitive sauce would be difficult because every chef prepares it differently (e.g. orange chicken sauce)
