you only get one thing from chinese buffet—obese.
just dont go, stupid.
do you think as a whole, the cheap, corner cutting, greedy chinks are serving you premium, high-quality ingredients for your fatass buffet, or perhaps something more sinister could be lurking under the surface?

Just don't eat for the rest of the day, and probably skip a meal the next day. One large meal won't instantly make you obese.

The really cheap ones are more likely to put out old and spoiled food though. When the average restaurant meal is around $10, you should be a little wary when a buffet is $8. But the ones around $15 for lunch seem to be okay.

I don't eat fried stuff too often so I like to have a lot of dumplings, spring/egg rolls, krab rangoon. Most of them have a green bean with garlic dish that's always pretty good. Then I'll have some rice noodles and whatever meat/fish isn't in a sugary sauce.

the only difference between $8 and $15 as you say, is location.

I've never had an issue with the $15 buffet I go to. I think if profit margins aren't as tight then they won't be as likely to use old/spoiled food because losing a customer would be worse than just tossing it.

Buffets may be cheap but its meals are usually of poor taste, low nutritional value, and produced with insufficient hygiene. I would much rather go to a restaurant and savour some of the dishes I do like rather than stuff my belly with mediocre slop.
