what is the most annoying gimmics you have seen at coffee shops?

im from a small town so we just have dunkin donuts and starbucks. even starbucks which gets a rep for pretentiousness is honestly just a fast casual place where people go before work and for dates.

so what have you seen that made you go "lol i just want to drink coffee"? and yeah obviously the people going can be annoying but im talking about the places themselves.

There's a small local coffee shop which could be pretentious as shit (all buzzword beans and roasts, vinyl playing all the time, everything is "retro/ refurbished", etc.) but it's super comfy and everyone who works there is super cool so it's literally impossible to hate. I don't drink much coffee but I never go anywhere else.

There's a coffee shop called Good Fortune which serves all coffee with a fortune cookie, which is neat. Sucks for the gluten-free crowd, but perfectly fine for us normals.

There's also one which sels art, furniture, dinnerware etc. Basically anything that's in the shop is also for sale. Like that table? Buy it! I think that's kinda nifty.

If I have to go with the theme of the thread, I hate cats so cat cafes can fuck right off. There's one not too far from me. It needs to die.

Gimmicks don't annoy me because I don't partake in them. If the place has a library thats fine, I don't want to read your neo-marxist lesbian fanfiction, but it doesn't bother me that its there. If they put the effort into putting a design on the top, I don't give a fuck, but it doesn't piss me off that they're there. You'd have to be supremely autistic for things like that to 'annoy' you.

The only thing I can think of that I don't like are places like Starbucks that use meme names for their sizes. I don't want to ask for a "venti" black coffee but I also don't want to ask for a large because then I'll just get hit with "Uhh, do you mean a venti?"

I'm actually at one rn. Its pretty comfy and a great place to go do homework while avoiding being on campus. However, there's one thing. There's a goddamn piano. About half the times I study here, someone walks in and starts hammering on the fucking piano and i cannot hear myself think. One back home has a communal guitar which is substantially less annoying, but the trend of instruments in a place that's supposed to be relatively quiet so people can read or chat is extremely obnoxious.
