so one day I was thinking of trying beans as a new food to add to my diet (been studying nutrition and adding various whole foods into my cooking). I like beans in chilli, so maybe I can do other things with them? And the dried beans last forever so that saves money. I buy some light red kidney beans from the store. First I try soaking them overnight with the intention of cooking them the next day, but forgot. They're in the fridge for 4 days, 5 days, jesus christ that water is brown, can I eat these? better not, put them in the freezer. Next I decide I'll just cook them for an hour as the alternative directions say. I do this, oh god they look like they're in that god awful fried bean red sauce (I hate beans like that, I hate sauces, no there is no real logic to it). I drain the sauce, but I still can't stand the sight of them. They're still in the fridge days later, in limbo. Too old to eat, too much waste to throw out, I just don't want to look at them. God what was I thinking?
