pizza is pretty hard to fuck up by my tastes. I'd obviously prefer great pizza, but, I've never complained about chain-store delivery pizza either. I always hear people bitch "it's too thin, it's too thick, too much sauce, not enough sauce, too much cheese, not enough cheese, crust is too soft, not soft enough" and on and on and on. It's all good to me. I'm not big on too much sauce but I'll just scrape some off and it's fine.

There's a wood-fire oven pizzzeria on the main street of my town that fucking kills it, but the best pizza I ever had was in this little shithole in Rome. I was just walking by when the smell grabbed me. Wish I knew how to find it or recommend it to others, but there was no sign on the door. I couldn't find it again during my stay. All I know is that it's near Via Capo d'Africa near the Colosseum

worst was that "screaming sicilian" frozen pizza. i think it was a four-cheese pie or something like that. it had an extremely reddit-style name and it was fucking AWFUL
it was also expensive as fuck for such a pile of frozen shit. no idea why i got it and i wasn't the one who fucked it up. they fucked it up. worst dough/crust i've ever had on a pizza and that includes bagel bites

I spent 2 weeks in New York. Every place has these floppy triangles that seemed like they had glued bad cheese to the pizza bread we had in elementary school, with an undetectable spread of tomato paste underneath. I kept looking because I wanted authentic New York pizza, but gave up and ate sandwiches and fried fish the last few days if I remember right.

Hopefully somewhere there has learned how to make pizza in the last 17 years.

The best pizza I ever had was a bacon and broccoli pie from a place called Willingtons, in CT. Normally, I would hate it, since I'm a douchebag east coast pizza purist, but they made everything I hate work. It had a buttery crust, like a chicago pizza, but thin enough that it was still foldable and lightly chewy without being doughy. The bacon was THICC; it wasn't anemic little burnt jagged crumbles, but an actual quality piece of bacon. The broccoli florets were charred on the tips, and didn't bog down the pizza with moisture. I'm fairly certain they used buffalo milk mozzarella too.
Worst was a hometown joint that someone got a bunch of hair on before they stuck it in the oven. Smelled exactly as bad as burnt hair does. Their oven sucked too; before I got the hair pie, I found a chunk of brick on a pepperoni slice.

Best is a thin crust they make about 4 hours away from me. Except they slice it Chicago style like assholes. Maybe I could get them to slice it in a non fucking lunatic fashion, dunno.

Worst was at this place called Cricket’s or something in Idaho. It also took like, two fucking hours to get to the table so most everybody at the table was completely shitfaced by the time it arrived. Any place that takes two fucking hours to cook a goddamn pie should be condemned on principle.
