I never would've thought Subway would become this bad. I used to like it a lot when I was younger, but I can't deny the few times here and there I've given it a chance in recent years it's always turned out to be a nightmare, even when I deliberately try to mix it up with different locations to see if it's just one of them that's fucking everything up.

It's pretty bad, anon. Bread is barely edible. At a good sub place the bread effortlessly melts in your mouth as you eat and you don't even think about it, but at modern Subway locations the bread they give you is old and poor consistency with a weird unnatural chemical taste to it and you have to keep on chewing longer than you normally would for the disgusting clumps of nasty stale bread to break down fully. Deli meats are garbage too there and have random dried hard sections to them like the worst quality past expiration gas station convenience tier meats. And the cheese is like eating plastic.

Nahhh, 6 inch Ham or Turkey on a whole grain bread with spinach, tomato, cucumber, green peppers, and lettuce and sub sauce is healthy and nutritious. It's a little high in sodium but if you know how to diet it's the cheapest, quickest, healthiest fast food you can buy.

A little surprised at the responses ITT.
Only had good experiences with Arby's, both ones that I recall going to had very polite workers, not Chic-fil-a tier, but good. Arby's food was pretty good too. Subway is probably the worst of the major sub chains, but not that bad fast food wise. Jack-in-the-box is the absolute worst gutter trash establishment I've ever been to. Shit workers. Got cold fries, some regular and some curly, which is pretty gross. Awful burgers, and everything else on their menu is a shoddy copy of something else, i.e. crunch wrap supreme, the pita wraps, etc.

I worked at a Subway for around 3 weeks last summer while I was home from College and it was one of the more bizarre experiences of my life. It was owned by an Indian couple who literally gave ZERO fucks about the restaurant, it was managed by two Mexicans who never showed up, trained anyone (seriously they didn't train me to do anything lmao), and you had to physically go to the store to collect a paycheck because they refused to setup direct deposit no matter how many times they said they would. The owners only hired enough people so there was one person working at a time in a 24/7 store so the store was filthy, prep was always behind, and people would routinely show up to work late so you'd work well past your regular hours. One of the few times I worked with another person there the kid was stealing money straight from customers and not even ringing up sandwiches, lmao. Called one of the Mexicans one day and said "yeah I'm not showing up anymore" and that was it.

90s Subway was amazing. And I swear it's not just because I was younger and had retarded taste back then. One reason I know this is the case is I used to get the meatball sub pretty often there, and it was delicious, whereas whenever I've tried a meatball sub from Subway in the past year or two it's always filled with horribly burnt old meat, disgusting sauce, and somehow even the bread has this awful lingering chemical taste to it like they spray it down with insecticide before serving it or something.

I've worked at Subway for 27 years, you people are insane. Subway cooks their bread fresh day and we bake the cookies fresh 3 times a day every single day, 362 days a year. Healthy non-fried deli meat would be great except that they buy the worst possible quality of ingredients and then leave everything out way past when they should. Even the bread, man. Even the fucking bread. How do you fuck up BREAD at a SANDWICH SHOP? Well, let me tell you how, by being a Subway franchise owner in modern years apparently and spraying down what should be long since trashed old bread with some fucked up antiseptic spray so that even just being around a nu-Subway location will given you headaches from secondhand inhalation of its scent. And God help you if you decide to actually eat the thing, you'll be treated to horrible chemical tasting globs of barely chewable, largely non-dissolvable mutant pseudo-bread betwixt which are rancid slices of hard, dried up spoiled meat and "cheese" that probably came out of a hot glue gun.
Go eat a real sandwich and then compare with today's nightmare mode Subway for perspective. And I know most of you can't make your own sandwiches, so by get a real sandwich I mean go to Jersey Mike's. Maybe go with the Italian, that's a good one.
