Local breakfast/lunch joint called Jumbos
>What’s so great about them
It started as a greasy spoon for truckers like 40+ years ago and still serves amazing and huge breakfasts 7 days a week. $8.50 will get you a coffee, a half pound of pit ham or sage sausage (or 4 slices of bacon), hash browns with gravy, three eggs, and two slices of buttered texas toast with homemade jam. If you're a hungry big boi, $2 will get you a stack of pancakes or french toast added, too.

I only go there a few times a year because fuck eating like that on the reg, but I love waking up early on a weekend morning and spending an hour there talking and chowing down with my girl.

Not sure where you got the grocery chain idea from my post, but in Publix and Lucky's that have a sushi chef people come in and make takeaways everyday right infront of you; they are a vendor. It is good, and in picky. I wouldn't get it at a place where they don't have certified people come in and prepare it. Restaurant is better, but it is worth paying for if your craving it.

Good Eats
>local cafe near me, simple stuff but it's all made from scratch (including their breads), very good breakfast. extremely comfy atmosphere, she uses regular wood dining tables and they are all different sets so it feels like you're at grandma's or someshit

Orto
>fancy italian restaurant run by a chef that won some reality tv chef show like 10 years ago, pricey (probably about $50 with tax/tip and no alcohol) but two of the best meals i've had in this city

Lapointe's
>technically a chain but it's local only, old Ottawa business (1860s I think), have a handful of markets and restaruants around the city. very good fish & chips for a normal restaurant price. also used to work in one of the markets when i was in high school.

Whalesbone
>pricey (similar to Orto) seafood place, extremely good food. had a weird ass ceasar salad there once that had no actual ingredients from a ceasar salad except for the lettuce, they replaced everything with different but similar ingredients (like the "bacon" was roasted and seasoned walnuts) was really fucking good

Art-Is-In Bakery
>bakery and scratch cafe near me, very well known around the city they show up at farmer's markets everywhere with bread and pastries and always sell out by noon, people love their baked shit but the restaurant is even better. simple food mostly (breakfast, burgers, pizza) but i've never been short of impressed by all the stuff i've tried

And gongfu is on bank a bit north of the queensway, fried is on elgin, same kind of area, and sensotei is on bank I think as well, but way up towards the business district/parliament hill, so it's all basically east of somerset and west of the canal.

Still haven't made my way up towards the byward market to check out restaurants since it's like a gauntlet of homeless people to get there, it's mostly been downtown and the glebe

also i recommend Art-Is-In Bakery for pizza, but i think they only do it on Thursday and Friday evenings (check their website), it's all weirder pizzas and they change them up all the time but every single one i've tried has been great

my cousin tells me Tennessee Willems is even better for pizza. Isabella's in the Glebe is very good too, it's a regular pizza joint with normal toppings instead of the Art-Is-In and Tennessee concoctions
