Good god, ever since my girlfriend bought me one these for our 8th year anniversary I have been eating so much TRASH FOOD. Motzerella sticks, jalapeno poppers, chicken tenders etc. Can you actually meals in it or is it just an at-home carnival food supplier? I can't imagine what you could in one of these that wasn't just breaded crap.

Well the point of the air fryer is to make garbage fried food less garbage by not using (almost any) oil..

So what you are complaining about is it works too well and therefore you can't help your dumb self and gorge on delicious fried yet healthy delicacies?

>> No.12179480

I mostly use mine to cook potatoes. It's faster and more convenient that using my oven. I got it as a gift, probably wouldn't buy one on my own though.

Bought one of those things a few days ago to make some fried chicken
First batch I made was too undercooked, soft and greasy because of too much grease.
Second attempt yielded much better results after spritzing a bit of oil on both before and after seasoning and breading for 2 separate batches for testing purposes. Both ultimately led to the same color and consistency.

Overall, the taste was close enough to what the real deal fried chicken tastes like, although the color is definitely off (too light), and the skin too soft. The good news is that it reheats and crisps up cold chicken very nicely and in a few minutes. Also learned that when everyone says to use next to no grease, you DO NOT use more than a few sprays of oil.

I roast vegetables in it all the time. If you're mixing veggies, you just add them at different times. Like onions usually go first, then peppers, mushrooms etc. Fried cauliflower is amazing. Chicken thighs/legs are super easy, just throw a spice rub on them.

This is what I just made, though it's not all that healthy. I confit a bunch of turkey wings in lard for 12 hours, sous vide, then I just throw the bag in the fridge. Pull out wings as needed, and air fry.

Yeah, my local hispanic market has them all the time. Not sure what they do with rest of the turkey.

Normally they're pretty tough, but when you sous vide them for awhile, they're amazing. Plus the skin is thicker, and gets way crispier than chicken wings.

You cut the cord off something else, or cut an extension cable, and twist the appropriate wires together with some electrical tape.
