Texture is the physical feeling of the food’s texture in your mouth. Crunchy, crisp, slimy, smooth, grainy, chewy, gooey, ect. Mouthfeel is the overall effect of physical sensations of the food including texture but also temperature, acidity, and any other non-taste sensations. The bubble of carbonated soda combined with it’s coldness and acidity creates the unique mouthfeel of soda.

I think it’s because the overall effect of experiencing the sensations simultaneously creates the experience. But yeah it is kinda pointless and only really comes up with complex things like soup dumplings and pop rocks.
