I worry about nail pieces or crusty skin falling into my food from disgusting nail-biting line cooks when I eat out.

I used to get those ridges when I tore my nail down in thin layers from top to bottom, I think they come from damage at the base of the nail.

They went away a few years after I quit nail biting and took up heavy drinking.
