Thing to note, Emeril - unlike just about every other Food Network star barring a few - is an actual chef who took to TV partially as a way to educate people and partially to fund his restaurants (much like Ramsay).

Hurricane Katrina absolutely fucking destroyed his properties though and he had to rebuild from scratch.
