I make iced tea so rinse off flowers, snip off green parts since theyre a little more bitter. Add to water and boil, turn off heat and let steep for as long as you like, an hour to 10 hours, whatever. If you want to add sweetener to it while water is still very hot. Strain flowers out and there ya go.

You can eat the whole plant, as long as it hasn't sucked up anything dangerous through the soil, like strong pesticides or poisons meant for rodents.

Most foraging people, or people growing it at home for themselves, will eat the young leaves before they flower because it is still tender and mild.

If you wait too long, it tends to get a very bitter taste, though I have no clue what the tea tastes like.

If you're interested in anything like that, just a word of caution. I personally think it would be better to learn what types of plants are poisonous, and how to identify them, before you learn what types are safe.

People have died from very simple mistakes in identifying plants, and not testing properly.

I was really into foraging for a bit, still am to some extent, but a run in with some “ramps” that turned out to have probably been poisonous lilies put me off the business for a while and go back to simply gardening.
