>is pay for sauce morally wrong?

at almost every bakery and fast food joint they make you pay upwards of 30 cents for a packet of sauce rather than just giving you a free one with your purchase. It's bullshit I say.

yeah here in Australia it's usually fucking 50 cents for a sauce pack unless it's 7 Eleven then it's free

Yeah, they do that where I work and it's pure nickle and diming. It costs the shop about 30 cents per packet and they don't want to cut into their bottom line.

Fucking ridiculous.

Really? I don't think I've ever been charged for sauce here in Europe. Every pub and restaurant I've been to has them already set on tables or in a little basket that you get freely when asked for. Even McDonalds include them for free when asked.

Why are you buying sauce from bakeries?

Where the fuck do you live? In burgerland I ask for ketchup and they will put 15 packets of the fucking things in my bag for a $5.99 combo

The alternative is that they give it to you "free" and build the cost into the base price of the sausage roll or pie. Then people who don't use sauce are financially subsidising your failure to grow up. No, it is not morally wrong to make the user pay.

True, but 3/4 of it, adjusted daily, is in a high-interest “safe” market fund. However, maximally honestly, I’m a somewhat broken person just like many here are, and having the firepower for a new car plus a decent pad for quite a while without any incoming pay makes me feel better. For a while I kept cash/liquid balances low and had things tied up in tax-free munis, etc, but it fucking freaked me out eventually and I came to the conclusion I’d rather gain more slowly with a certain chunk very liquid simply because it makes me feel more immediately safe. When I feel that way I’m a better and more generous person.

But here’s the thing you want to hear: you’re 100% correct.

I’ll pay 30 cents for a packet of sauce if it stops fatties from taking 20 with every meal and completely covering their food in ketchup. I don’t even eat fast food often enough for 30 cents to matter, and neither should anyone else.

It's not morally wrong to charge for sauce but it's a terrible financial decision. Everybody else if giving it out for free and it makes people wonder what other pennies you're pinching. It's basically handicapping yourself to nickel and dime a bit more.

The food truck that comes round to my factory every lunchtime gives them out for free.

Considering how a single one of those tiny fuckers is just barely enough for a meat pie, I'd bloody well hope they're free.

Why shouldn't they charge for sauce? They're giving you something in exchange, and it's not like they get it free either.
