It allows it to use existing plumbing to let the organic waste flow into the septic system. I only use mine when I rise plates off after eating and little bits of food go down the drain. I don't understand why people use it to dispose of large quantities of solid food scraps. My water tastes better than most bottled, if not a bit too ferrous. I went to an old part of the nearby town and the water was horrible beyond belief. And when I say old part, I mean colonial. A very rich area, resident and government, to boot.

I went to visit an uncle of mine in a town near Dunedin, and got to stay in their house. They lived in a pretty small city, and had to do this because of something that had to do with their city sewage treatment.

Essentially, you had to throw the used TP in a separate bin, and then also scoop the turds back up and put them in yet another separate bin.

I've experienced the TP thing in hotels in Argentina, Cyprus, Spain and Greece, but the scoop thing came as a complete shock and I thought they were joking.
