why is cooking so fucking hard?

i just want to cook some basic brown rice or quinoa with some good tasting seasoning, but every fucking recipe i come across has to throw in an additional 50 items that are impossible to find so i end up just make plain fucking rice with no seasoning and it tastes like shit

when you cook for you, food tastes less good than when it's made by another person. so your own food will always taste less tasty than your specting

Brown rice is a bitch, you can’t make it taste good. I go with jasmine, it’s a lot better. Cook with boullion cubes, mix in a little butter, add some season salt, and it’s golden. Or add hot sauce

Just buy the ones with premade dehydrated packets you just pour into the water. That's what I do for wild rice

It doesn't need to be all or nothing. This isn't baking. You can put just what you have and like in it. I bet you always tailgate because you need to be led.

I have the same problem. I cook rice in beef broth, put a ton of seasoning in it (garlic, onion powder, chili powder) and it still comes out tasting like bland ass rice.

It's a mix between chemical processes and art. Both things are complex but can be mastered if you put enough time and energy in it to explore them. If you're having a hard time, try to deviate from the path and experiment for yourself. Try different, simple things and see what works. Take your time to improve things and see where it leads you. You sound like you're too formulaic and lost the fun in it.

Absolutely not true bro. I only eat brown rice because MUH HEALTH and it always is nice. People forget that rice is just meant to be a base for toppings. It's all about combination.

Give this a try anon, this is piss-easy and you can add dry spices to the rice before you add the liquid to give it more flavor

Cooking is easy, especially if you only have to cook for yourself. I have to prepare for my family and cater to their autistic desires, whereas by myself I can fuck up and fuck around with excess spices and techniques and still shove it into my indifferent maw.

That being said, despite American culture, not everything has to be a flavor cumshot into your mouth. Brown rice and quinoa is good on its own. Put a seared, chopped chicken piece on top of it and let the juices soak, and even better. EZPZ Lemon Squeezie.
