I'm excited to give these a try, but it seems they're worth 200$ each from a quick internet search.

whisky thread I guess?

no age on this one, but seems to be a circa 1980s vintage whisky. I'll probably open this on first since it seems to be a common bottle that was just forgotten.

No no no no no no no.. I spent 230 bucks on 18 year Macallan old oak and I wanted to find someone to hurt. It's great. Fruity, caramel, entirely delightful like I was drinking a Courvoisier. That's not fucking Scotch.

>> No.12107411

>>12107380
I think the fact that you can get fruity, dreamlike Scotches as well as smoky, masculine, peat-bombs is all the better. Macallan isn't even the gentlest, especially compared to what's made in the Lowlands.

I'm just being bitchy. But I was upset at the waste for me. Bowmore, Taliskar, Bruichladdich, Ardbeg, Laphroaigh, Caol Ila etc never disappointed quite so completely. I'd rather drink german brandy like Asbach

Ah, you shoulda known Macallan would be total dream-juice, anon. It's basically the industry standard for sweet, mellow single malts.

Make your own booze if you're an alcoholic, and buy tasting packs. For god sake don't buy anything Canadian. We're bootleggers. Buy Scotch. Those assholes have been fighting over the British crown for millenia and burning their peat bogs for booze for probably as long.

The booze doesn't "age" after it has been bottled.
That's just a very old bottle of six year old whiskey.
Feel free to scam some gullible fucks on the internet and make some extra cash on the side.
But AFAIK that "old" 70's whiskey shouldn't taste any different than a "six year old" bottle you buy today.

That one is basically from the same distillery that makes Old Forester, if you've had OF before the older stuff isn't too much different.

If you can try some IB Glenfarclas or Family Casks of Glenfarclas do it because cask strength older stock Farclas is fucking heaven in a glass.
>>12107380
You got fucked over. The Fine Oak series is literally the absolute worst Macallan's you can get outside of the dumb Gold, Amber, Sienna, Ruby shit.
If you want sherried scotch like old school Macallan that doesn't kill your wallet try Glendronach or Tamdhu.
Macallan used to be good but the past decade has been a very long degrade into shit ever since they got bought by Edrington. If you ever try the Cask Strength savour it because it's the last time you'll ever likely try the reason why people loved that distillery.

>But AFAIK that "old" 70's whiskey shouldn't taste any different than a "six year old" bottle you buy today.
For the big blends that's true, however the core spirit that went into them was very different in style then the stuff made now so there will be differences. Also some distilleries that went into them might be dead or changed stills so the taste will vary but it's usually not by much.
