ok i thought maybe id be a little more specific. I have felony charges from 2016, got out of prison a few months ago and I keep getting shot down in job interviews because of my felonies. I got 1 felony DWI and possession of controlled substance at the end of 2016. Reading these threads, i see people often complaining about "felons" working in kitchens (yeah we are terrible, horrible people I know) , but I dont know if these complainers are exaggerating or what. If i was a black lesbian or a mexican tranny, id be a protected minority group, but since im a white male felon, its both legal and fashionable to discriminate against me. I am well aware of whose fault it is that I am in this position, but I do realize how cute and clever it is for people to point that out.
tl;dr : am i wasting my time applying at restaurants as a felon?

Kitchens are probably the easiest place for felons to get a job, yeah. I feel like you're better off getting in good with one of those jobs for felons charities though

thank you for your feedback. Are you referring to franchise/chain restaurants? (Chili's, Red Lobster etc.) or one-off small business restaurants? (or both?)

>> No.12095819

>>12095817
Both. High turnover jobs like that don't usually have the option of being picky, especially with unemployment as low as it is right now

I know places that hire people with worse track records. Used to work groceries with a guy who had several counts property destruction but still got hired on and is working just fine. Depends on how much an employer needs workers I guess.

picking on minority rights and seeing white male as an oppressed group really doesn't help. you are trying to victimize yourself. don't do that and get that job. if someone turns you down, don't blame them, don't blame yourself and don't say that some others fell on the sugar side. just move on and keep your chin up. thanks
