Have you ever had to borrow an egg, flour, salt, sugar etc from a neighbour because you ran out?

Or have you ever given a neighbour an ingredient?
I haven't had to do it for a while but I'm pretty friendly with my old retired neighbour and he has given me an egg or 2 when needed. I always pay him back with cookies or w/e I'm baking

Is this still normal or is it a faux pas now

if I had good relationships with my neighbors i would, but I live in an apartment complex and everyone mostly keeps to themselves

I've has some neighbors do it, I'll gladly give them an egg because they usually ask for help with work. I try to only do it if I am already in the middle of making something and I forgot to get something I need. There is also a lady that leaves her eggs for sale in a shack with a jar for the money and no one has messed with it, so it's that type of place.

I presume thats very depends on place you live in. Its like 50 m from my apps to 24h supermarket, why I should bother my neighbours?

When I was moving in to my apartment 2 months ago, I saw that my neighbor is a hot female. I introduced myself and gave her my phone number on a sticky note. Told her that if my TV or music is too loud or she needs a cup of sugar, cup of coffee or a couple drinks, to call me.

She hasn't called. I'm hoping she at least still has my number stuck to her fridge

Bruh that was too much too fast. If you saw her as your walking about of your apartment a couple times and just said hello then maybe. And even then that approach is fucking weird.
And she's your fucking neighbor. She doesn't need your number that quickly because if she actually needed something and even wanted to interact with you you're a door or two down the way.

I didn't know it was possible to be that socially inept. Wow...

I don't even remember my neighbors names. I'd still probably give them an egg or whatever if they needed it though.

if i'm out of an ingredient, i might as well hop in my car and drive 5 minutes to the grocery store than hope a neighbor is home and has what i need.
