it might taste okay with just salt but adding something else to make it look more appealing would be better. i just add some turmeric and its a world of difference in color

The chicken looks bland as shit but it has decent flavor. Marinated in honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and habenero peppers. The rice was supposed to be garlic and basil but I think I slumped on the basil a bit much

Have you considered doing anything aside from boiling it? Try pan frying it. Deglaze the pan and add it to the rice water. Add a fucking vegetable.

what, and then you washed it off? next time, cook that stuff with the chicken and actualy eat it
marinading it in that will do next to nothing, if you want tenderer chicken, dry brine it instead (rub it in salt)
